3d Austin Users Group Meeting
Wednesday, April 29 6:30 pm at
El Mercado, 1702 Lavaca, Austin, TX

3ds Max 2010 is shipping and we will show some animations and demos.

Demo's

  1. Don Smith

  2. John P. Funk

  3. Bren Wilson

  4. John Hamilton, graduate of the Savanna College of Art and Design (seems like we have scads of grads here in Austin)

Thanks to the ever alert Sara Farr, we now have a real program for our meeting tomorrow night.

From Sara:

Hey Bill,
I just talked to my animator friend, Dano Johnson (of Collection Agency Films) about the two of us coming to talk about the 3D visual effects work that I (and some ACC students) did on "Flatland, the Movie".  http://flatlandthemovie.com/
The short has been selling well in academic circles, and Dano is ramping up to make a sequel -- "Sphereland, the Movie"
Dano agreed to come, so we'd like about 20 min to talk about the film, the production process (including the 3D work), and what may be coming next.
Sincerely,
Sara Farr
-----Thanks Sara

We will also have the “show and tell” stuff afterward.

The next meeting of our 3D Austin Users Group will be one week from today, at 6:30, Wed. April 29th at El Mercado, 1702 Lavaca, Austin, TX.

We will look at what happened at the Game Development Conference in San Francisco last month

And at the new 3ds Max 2010. (Demo now available for download from the Autodesk site) Legacy Upgrades available back to 3ds Max 3, till April 30.

If you have some “show and tell” contact Brad Clark to make arrangements.

Plan to join us.

From last month’s meeting, Joe Pizzini and John Petersen have developed a series of benchmark tests on the new Intel i7 chip. It is very impressive.
