ANIMATOR
Sleek Software Corporation is interested in finding 3D animators who have experience using Poser software. We’re looking for contractors that can animate 12 previously purchased models.
Some animations would be simple, such as a frown turning into a smile or a thumbs-up sign and would only last a few seconds. Others would be more sophisticated; for instance, there might be a model dancing or flipping in the air and might last as long as 15-20 seconds.
Here’s an example of the most complex animation we’d need (not our product): http://www.its-ming.com/ . Look specifically at the Dancing Ant movie. Ideally, we’d like to be able to see all sides of the model.

The researchers who publish the Marketing Experiments Journal are looking for one new company to work with this year to help grow and market their business.
In a world crowded with businesses trying to compete for market share and sales, we find it very difficult to find a company that has a truly unique value proposition. Very often, businesses are succeeding in "pockets" in the market, but do not have a strong enough business model to grow in the long term.  There are a few examples of companies who have grown exponentially for years and years, simply because their business model was simple, and they had a strong value proposition.  Google is one example. Today, the word "Google" has almost become a verb. It is a simple but incredibly useful tool, and everyone uses it.

Microsoft is another example. There is nothing more powerful than being the operating system on most of the world's computers.
In an effort to find and help grow a smart young company that might have the next "Google-esque" idea, we are sponsoring the First Annual MarketingExperiments.com Back-of-a-Napkin Business Plan Contest.

We want to know what ideas you have. We want to hear about your company.
http://www.marketingexperiments.com/napkin1-010.asp

Next month one fortunate group of entrepreneurs will win a business jumpstart package worth over $100,000 which includes a chance to pitch their idea to major VCs, a three-month public relations contract with a PR firm, and a six-month research engagement with Marketing Experiments.
You may enter as many times as you like, and please feel free to forward this to your friends and co-workers.
We look forward to hearing your ideas!

DCI Mobile Content Festival – CALL FOR ENTRIES
An experiment in film, gaming and application development for mobile devices. Austin, Texas, March 14th, 2006.

The DCI is looking to address the current influence of mobile devices on our culture. Mobile devices have had a tremendous effect on our society and we are interested in how that new audience might best be communicated to in this new medium. It is our belief that this new medium offers special consideration that have yet to be suitably identified; the least of which is viewing size. Other considerations for this new form are cost per download, as well ergonomic concerns, etc.

The Festival is looking for mobile content submissions that explore the mobile lifestyle. Submit your project now. Deadline is March 5th for Applications and Games, and March 1st for Films.

Grand prize winners will be announced for each of the 3 categories and awarded the following prizes: Applications – a Dell Axim X51 Handheld 416MHz, Games - a Sony PSP, Movies - an Apple 30gig Video Ipod.  All 3 winners will get a copy of Lightwave 3D.

For more information go to: http://www.dcitexas.org/mcf/

CGChat Seeks Artists For 'Dominance War' Competition

Digital art site CGChat.com has engaged in a virtual war with Polycount.com, hosted on RealtimeCG, and is seeking "War Generals" to assist in the fight. The battle rhetoric is a disguise for the real art competition going on underneath, in which digital game artists are invited to submit character models on one side or the other.

Entrants are limited to 5000 polygons to create a War General of any sci-fi race or type, with the artist's choice of weaponry. The rules require that the virtual combatant be rendered in a realistic or semi-realistic style. The War General will be mounted on a small stand, which itself has no polygon or texture restrictions, and should be placed in a "winning pose," the absence of which will be grounds for disqualification. All entries should be new and original to the competition, with no old models allowed.

The overall winner of the war, as judged by reader votes once all entries are submitted, will receive promotional items and games from various companies, including Neversoft, Ritual Entertainment, Epic Games, and Sony; with second through fifth prizes getting smaller subsets of promotional items.

Artists can join either side in the conflict, and full details for entry are available at the official site. All submissions are due by March 8th, 2006.
