The researchers who publish the Marketing
Experiments Journal are looking for one new company to work with this year to
help grow and market their business.
In a world crowded with businesses trying to compete for market share and sales,
we find it very difficult to find a company that has a truly unique value
proposition. Very often, businesses are succeeding in "pockets" in the market,
but do not have a strong enough business model to grow in the long term.
There are a few examples of companies who have grown exponentially for years and
years, simply because their business model was simple, and they had a strong
value proposition. Google is one example. Today, the word "Google" has
almost become a verb. It is a simple but incredibly useful tool, and everyone
uses it.
Microsoft is another example. There is nothing more powerful than being the
operating system on most of the world's computers.
In an effort to find and help grow a smart young company that might have the
next "Google-esque" idea, we are sponsoring the First Annual
MarketingExperiments.com Back-of-a-Napkin Business Plan Contest.
We want to know what ideas you have. We want to hear about your company.
http://www.marketingexperiments.com/napkin1-010.asp
Next month one fortunate group of entrepreneurs will win a business jumpstart
package worth over $100,000 which includes a chance to pitch their idea to major
VCs, a three-month public relations contract with a PR firm, and a six-month
research engagement with Marketing Experiments.
You may enter as many times as you like, and please feel free to forward this to
your friends and co-workers.
We look forward to hearing your ideas!

DCI Mobile Content Festival – CALL FOR ENTRIES
An experiment in film, gaming and application development for mobile devices.
Austin, Texas, March 14th, 2006.
The DCI is looking to address the current influence of mobile devices on our
culture. Mobile devices have had a tremendous effect on our society and we are
interested in how that new audience might best be communicated to in this new
medium. It is our belief that this new medium offers special consideration that
have yet to be suitably identified; the least of which is viewing size. Other
considerations for this new form are cost per download, as well ergonomic
concerns, etc.
The Festival is looking for mobile content submissions that explore the mobile
lifestyle. Submit your project now. Deadline is March 5th for Applications and
Games, and March 1st for Films.
Grand prize winners will be announced for each of the 3 categories and awarded
the following prizes: Applications – a Dell Axim X51 Handheld 416MHz, Games - a
Sony PSP, Movies - an Apple 30gig Video Ipod. All 3 winners will get a copy of
Lightwave 3D.
